About Trans Marine Pro
Trans Marine Pro is run by Cameron Murray, who lives on his boat “Tranquility”, currently based in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. Being a family and living on board full time, he has had to put his money where his mouth is, and has spent a lot of time, energy and expense on outfitting Tranquility with the products he knows and trusts.
Cameron lives by the philosophy that “You Pay Now or You Can Pay Later”, which is why he always seeks out quality, durability and efficiency in our renewable energy products.
He knows first hand how important it is to keep run time on your engine or generator to a minimum. Being able to incorporate renewable energy resources, along with high output alternators where you can, will help cut down your overall run time. Less run time means less diesel, fewer oil changes and less wear and tear – which all adds up to significant cost savings.
Cameron operates his own systems on a two-year return on investment, so any set-up costs for renewable systems are saved in running efficiencies within the first two years. After that it’s more money in the bank to enjoy the places that you dream of going.
Our renewable energy setup on S.V. Tranquility
Because he uses the products he sells on our his own boat, you can come and see them first hand – not just in a box or on the shelf, but fully up and running. And it also means we can give you honest feedback on their functions, reliability and value for money.
He personally uses two D400 Wind Generators, three 165 watt Solar Panels, a Blue Sky Solar Boost system, large lithium ion battery bank, OGM LED Lighting to conserve power, Balmar high output alternators with smart regulators and large battery chargers, for those times when you do have to start the Gen-Set.
The renewable energy resources currently on board conserve fuel, extend the life of our batteries, and allow us to live at anchor comfortably, wherever we are in the world.
Trans Marine Pro is run by Cameron who have always enjoyed being on or close to the sea, whether it be sailing, surfing, diving or just lazing by the water’s edge.
We have witnessed first-hand the change in our ocean environment, and noticed the damage being done every day by looking at the shoreline from our floating home. We have grown up with the values of being part of nature – enjoying what the earth offers us, and giving back through thoughtful stewardship.
Cameron grew up in Hawaii with his parents who ran a successful beach cat charter business out of Monaka Beach Hotel. He had salt running through his veins, being brought up between there and New Zealand, where his Grandfather ran a successful boat yard in the Bay of Islands.
Cam was a keen racer in his younger years and with his team has won many races including the Kenwood Cup and NZ Cup. Cameron’s professional background has been aboard superyachts, working his way up from Swab to Engineer to Captain with a MCA Class 4 certificate. Cameron’s keen mind and lateral thinking has made him sought after in the specialized renewable energy installation market.
His kids are also learning so much from seeing what’s important in his ideas and passion for what he does. He stands by his integrity of being conscious of his own keel imprint and is always looking for ways to lessen it, whether it be in promoting renewable energy or leaving a clean wake behind us.
